Nowadays, capital market is of key importance for successful companies, as well as for individuals who want to keep their money in a place that generates more income than government bonds, commercial papers, bank accounts and other means of money depositing. The topic of this thesis is a detailed analysis of a JPMorgan Chase & Co. stock. In the first half of the thesis, the emphasis is on segments of the bank business, followed by the definition of the stock and stock index. The world’s leading companies are faced with a problem of where to invest capital in order for it to be secure and achieve market growth, i. e. the growth of the national economy. It is very difficult to manage a few trillion dollars. The thesis thus addresses this problem and tries to solve it conducting two types of stock analyses, as well as comparing them to an exchange-traded fund. Financial reports are crucial for the calculation of stock evaluation indicators and models in the fundamental analysis, however, the reliability of data might be questionable. Reports can be altered to fit the needs of a company that has produced them. Therefore, the thesis deals with the technical analysis as well. The technical analysis estimates the stock price movement in the future based on its previous movements. It is considered that price movement comprises all the influences of the market; the market price is, moreover, the only reliable indicator that shows the real worth of a company. Considering both of these analyses, the thesis will show if the value of the stock is overestimated or underestimated. ETFs are among those funds that follow market growth trends, since they are linked to indices. Investors in the Republic of Croatia who decide to invest in ETFs should invest in stock market all around the world. Nevertheless, with the help of an experienced broker and the right platform this should not be too much of a problem. It is of great importance to raise public awareness towards capital market investment and promote financial literacy in Croatia.
