The topic of this thesis is an information system intended for food trade within the grocery store. At the beginning of thesis, the theoretical part of the information systems is presented, their definition and use. There are also methods explained, process modeling, modeling of data needed to create an effective IS, after which the applied part of thesis is presented. In the applied part of thesis it is important to understand the mission, vision and the goal of the information system in order for the information system to be as efficient and successful as possible. For this system intended for food trade within the grocery store, the processes that make it up are determined and explained. An analysis of these processes was also performed using data flow diagrams (DFD), an ER model and a relational model (RM) of the data were created. The relational model was normalized where the purpose of it is to reduce the need to repeat the same data and save space. Towards the end of thesis, algorithms made for testing the system and questioning it's functionality are presented.
