In 2018, according to statistics, the city of Velika Gorica recorded an increase in the number of overnight stays of 62% compared to the year 2017 which shows great improvement, however most of the guests stay for only one to two nights. Therefore, the goal of this graduation paper is to research whether or not the city of Velika Gorica has the real potential to become a tourist destination, what it needs to achieve that, and propose possibilities for improvement. This graduation paper has attempted to present the tourism resources of the city of Velika Gorica as well as the possibilities of improving the tourist offer, accommodation units and gastronomic offer, but also the events and festivals that are organized in this area. The data needed for this graduation paper was gathered primarily using books, scripts and internet sources, and secondarily by conducting a poll during the interval of January 25 to February 5. From the research was concluded that most of the tourists that visit the city of Velika Gorica realize only one or two nights, and that the gastronomic offer is far from significantly diverse. Furthermore, the research showed that local citizens are not familiar enough with the tourist resources that the city of Velika Gorica offers.
