The final paper clarifies the concept of sport facilities as well as the potential of recreational and sports infrastructure. Through the elaborated theoretical framework, a review of the literature is presented and previous researches related to the recreation and accessibility of sport facilities are presented. The importance of sports facilities management and strategy is important, which is essential when building objects. The work describes sports facilities under the facility Management of sports facilities and generally gives an image of sports infrastructure. In the context of urban prism, the role of sports functions as part of urban environment and importance for the social environment is presented. Data for the purpose of final work were collected by secondary research (works, books, articles, internet sources), while the research primarily analyzes responses obtained by structured interviews with responsible persons in each of the considered sports facilities. The analysis includes eight sport facilities in Zagreb that are the subject of research. Based on structured interviews with responsible persons, the results of the role of sports facilities for recreation of the city of Zagreb were obtained.
