Abstract
Cilj ovoga rada je ustanoviti važnost neverbalne i paraverbalne komunikacije te analizirati korištenje istih kod američkog predsjednika Joea Bidena. Nastojalo se donijeti zaključke o Bidenovoj komunikaciji te ju kasnije usporediti s komunikacijom Baracka Obame i Donalda Trumpa. Analizom neverbalne komunikacije obuhvaćeni su izrazi lica, pogledi, dodirivanja, geste i držanje tijela, dok su analizom paraverbalnog ponašanja obuhvaćeni glas, točnije njegova visina, ton i glasnoća te stanke i brzina govora. Ustanovljeno je da su paraverbalna i neverbalna ponašanja iznimno važna te da se iz njih može saznati puno o govorniku. Pravilno korištenje istih pridonosi kvaliteti cijelog javnog nastupa. Utvrđene su i određene razlike u njihovom korištenju između Bidena, Obame i Trumpa. Neverbalna i paraverbalna ponašanja Bidena i Obame puno su sličnija nego što je to slučaj u odnosu Bidena i Trumpa.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper is to establish the importance of non-verbal and paraverbal communication and to analyze how the President of the United States Joe Biden uses them in his speeches. This paper draws conclusions about Biden’s non-verbal and paraverbal communication and later compares them with the communication of Barack Obama and Donald Trump. The analysis of non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, looks, touches, gestures and posture, while the analysis of paraverbal behavior refers to the voice; its height, tone and volume. In addition, it analyses the speed of speaking and pauses in the speech. It has been affirmed that non-verbal and paraverbal communication are extremely important and that much can be learned about the speaker by analyzing them. Their proper use contributes to the quality of the entire public speaking performance. Certain differences in their use have also been identified between Biden, Obama and Trump. The nonverbal and paraverbal behavior of Biden and Obama is much more similar than that of Biden and Trump.
