Abstract (english) | American cinema was and remains one of the world's leading cinemas. In the world of war films, few have invested in such spectacles as the Americans. Precisely because of so much presence among film audiences, the United States took advantage of this, realizing that after the lost war they could choose to present the Vietnam War to their own benefit, their attitude towards civilians, guerrilla warfare, armed conflict, lifestyle, and ultimately American society and value system. In several film spectacles, they were able to change their view of war without changing the facts, while showing the questionable exact side of history.
The Vietnam War itself as an armed conflict continued as one in a series of wars for Vietnam’s independence. With so many conflicting parties in one territory, it was not difficult to manipulate information. The United States also did not prove more humane than the previous occupiers: Japan, England and France, who had oppressed the Vietnamese for years, promising them freedom, which they did not get in the end. Unfortunately, those who did not want a war at all - the Vietnamese - suffered the most. This paper will explain how mainstream and alternative sources participated in disseminating information and how today these same sources offer completely opposite information. Cinema, as this research based on a selected sample shows, has adhered to the mainstream media narrative and that attitude has not been corrected for forty-five years, since the end of the Vietnam War. |
